And the King Pinterest minus the -terest award goes to … my hubs.
I may be a little biased but after this Christmas he certainly deserves it. This little box was the start of it all.
On Sunday the 14th I found the box sitting on our kitchen island. I assumed it was a gift from a colleague or supplier from his work and didn’t think much of it. A little while later my nosiness got the best of me and I snooped. Hubs sat on the couch smiling as I pulled out a 3/4 sleeve t-shirt from Banana Republic. A bit confused I asked “what was up” and he replied with, “it was on sale”.
A sucker for a good deal I didn’t question it. “I’ve taught you well grasshopper.”
After dinner the next night I plunked myself on the couch, iPad in hand to play in the Twitterverse. It wasn’t long before I was distracted by a randomly placed Christmas bag. A quizzical look garnered a “Santa must have come early” response. I cautiously opened the bag not catching on to the game yet. In it was a bag of Two-Bite Brownies and the Social Media MBA.
Fast forward to Tuesday night. I crawled into bed only to be poked by the box. This time there was a note that absolutely made me giggle:
Inside was three gift cards to iTunes. It was only after this that I caught on: I was on the receiving end of the 12 days of Christmas.
In the days that followed I was giddy to see what the box would bring. It wasn’t for the gift but for the creativity that hubs put into it. As this is his busiest time of the year, 12 days of spoiling was the last thing I expected. And I loved every second of it.
Day 4 found my suitcase under the blankets where a sweater was waiting to wrap its arms around me. The sweater later turned into these Converse Laceless One Stars as it was a teensy bit too small. As in I’m not 16 donning belly shirts anymore.
The Nutcrackers carefully guarded the precious gems on day 5 which he had bought at a charity auction.
Yup. These were for a good cause. Love him!
There was a scavenger hunt on day 8 which led to lots of laughs throughout Christmas as we played Taboo.
This summer I borrowed a friend’s GoPro and had a blast with it. I got some really cool footage of one of my favourite heavy horse hitches. Since then I’ve been talking about the new GoPro Hero 4 Black. I may not have it yet but I now have all the gadgets for when I do.
There were 11 beautiful candles for me on day 11. Hubs had to go to Kingston the weekend before Christmas for work. He didn’t forget about the 12 days of Christmas while he was gone and brought these home with him.
Christmas. Day 12. It was particularly special as for the first time ever we woke up Christmas morning in our own home. We normally travel each holiday to be with family. This year all I wanted was to celebrate it in our home. And that’s what I got.
Hubs still wanted me to have something to open under the tree tho. I got this gorgeous Polo Ralph Lauren sweater.
My 12 days of Christmas has me falling in love all over again.2
