January 1. The start of a new calendar year. Fresh starts. Clean beginnings. Blah. Blah. Blah.
I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions. There is always something I can be working on to be the best person I can be. Why would I commit to resolve one or two things in life when my personal growth is limitless? Besides, according to the University of Scranton, only 8% of people are actually successful in their resolve.
There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self. ~ Ernest Hemingway
To me January 1 is just another day. Another day when I will try to be even more awesome than the last. I will build on the mistakes I made yesterday and strive to do better; be better. I will not punish myself for something not achieved but rather make adjustments.
As I grow and evolve, my path will change as well. That’s the amazing thing about self-improvement: as life changes, new directions are presented.
I had an amazing 2014. I pushed myself and took chances. I grew as a wife, a furmom, a friend and a colleague. I found my happy place. And I love it there.
My non-binding New Year’s non-resolution this year is to be awesomer. Happy 2015.
