it's all about me; ottawa senators hometown series

Ottawa Senators heading to a town near you

Everybody loves a road trip. The Ottawa Senators are no exception.

This summer (if that’s what you call fall like temperatures in the middle of August) the Sens are hitting the road. Literally. Players will be traveling from community to community RV style. Instead of their fans having to make the trek, they’re travelling to their fans. The inaugural Hometown Series will see players and media personalities land in communities across Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. I’ve heard rumours that everyone’s favourite cat will be there too.

The Sens have always been about their community; one that extends beyond Ottawa. A few years ago the team used to hit the road and travel to the local fairs. Getting back to this type of grassroots initiative allows people to connect with the team, especially those who may not be able to take in a game through the season.

Each tour stop will feature autograph sessions, interactive games and prizes to be won. A United in Red banner will also accompany the Hometown Tour, providing fans the opportunity to submit messages of support as they head into the 2014-2015 season. The banner will be displayed at Canadian Tire Centre as Sens players arrive for the first day of training camp.

Location

Each tour will take place at the respective town’s Canadian Tire store, with the exception of Smiths Falls. While in Smiths Falls the tour will land at the Smiths Falls Memorial Centre (71 Cornelia Street). The official ground breaking of the fourth Sens RINK (Recreational Investments in Neighbourhoods for Kids) Project will take place at the same time.

Autograph signings

The Senators will have in place a wristband policy in an effort to streamline player autograph sessions at each tour stop. Wristbands are in limited quantity and will be made available at the local Canadian Tire store’s customer service desk the day of the tour stop beginning at 9:00 am.

Player attendees will be confirmed via the Senators’ Twitter feed (@Senators) of the Monday of each week.

Chance to win

Each tour stop will feature a chance to win two tickets to the Sens home-opener on October 16 when they face the Avalanche. Fans are encouraged to monitor the team’s social media platorms for additional opportunities to win prices on the day of the respective tour stops. You can find them on Twitter @Senators and on Facebook at Ottawa Senators.

Get out and cheer proud for our hometown team. The boys will love it!

On another note, I’m bringing pesky back. Yeah! Them other boys don’t know how to act. #peskysens
